Contrary to claims that the Ghana@60 Anniversary Planning Committee spent some GH¢5.26m from the state coffers to undertake various activities as part of the Ghana@60 celebrations, DAYBREAK has stumbled upon information revealing that not only did the Committee not have an Accountant, but that it also had problems with procurement processes in line with standard accounting practices.
In a memo dated 4th April 2017 and signed by the Committee Chairman, Ken Amankwah and copied to the Chief of Staff and also the Executive Secretary to the President, hints were dropped to Members of the Committee suggesting that procurement practices among, other expenditures were getting way above board and needed to be controlled since the requisite human resources like Accountant or Auditor were not available to manage and control the processes in line with financial regulations.
