It is emerging that loyalists of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have taken over the day to day running of National Security Ministry’s ‘Blue Gate’ in Accra.
The rather bizarre news according to DAYBREAK’S sources is being perpetuated by a very top appointee to the Ministry.
The top senior official of the Ministry headed by Albert Kan Dapaah, per insider’s account, has relegated all the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizers and experienced hands to the background for reasons best known to him.
These security officers who now have a field day at the popular Blue Gate area were said to have been brought in by Security Coordinators under former President John Dramani Mahama and John Mills.
Sources say all the experienced and intelligent officers have been replaced with no explanation assigned.
The said powerful official whose name would be withheld for now has allegedly sidelined party faithful who hitherto manned the area and gathered critical information for the Ministry.
The removed officers were said to have helped the government in its day to day activities but now it appears their services are not needed in this specific area of work.
The situation has affected the morale of not only those affected but the general security set up to some extent.
It is feared that information and other intelligence gatherings may suffer because these loyalists of the NDC, may not be committed and trusted to keep the information a secret as it should.
