The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Rev. Amishsaddai Owusu-Amoah continued to be in the news for all the wrong reasons at the dying days of his appointment.

Aside reports of double dates of birth, schemes to retain him, Rev. Owusu-Amoah is allegedly embroiled in another controversy where he has allegedly employed a new secretary less than a month before he goes on retirement.

But that is not even the interesting part of the information DAYBREAK has gathered from multiple sources.

According to information, an interview panel to hire the said secretary was held at the luxurious Kempinski hotel days ago in Accra.

Another interesting part of the issue is that one of the interviewing panel members, was the official driver of the GRA boss. Many have complained about the basis of the location of the interview and the inclusion of his personal driver.

The interview which appeared as a mere formality was immediately followed with the appointment of the said secretary whose name is name withheld for now.

Sources have told this paper that not only did Rev. Owusu-Amoah hire the new secretary, but out of the ordinary was promoted to Senior Revenue Officer (SRO).

The recent action by the man of God, has angered the Staff Union who are expressing serious reservation about the development.

Insiders say this has been the mundus operandi of the revered minister as they tell DAYBREAK he usually brings outsiders to the Authority to promote them.

Since becoming the Commissioner-General, the Revered has been employing outsiders into the Authority and promoting them at will.

Some say this is not new as that has been the norm at the Finance Ministry headed by Ken Ofori Atta despite it being illegal.

In the past, the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), have had cause to engage the media about that practice especially at the Finance Ministry.

Meanwhile, the agenda to have Rev. Owusu-Amoah retained is in full gear.

As reported in the past, Mr Ofori-Atta is leading the charge and the move is simply to retain the almost 60-year-old man so that he can use him to prosecute his agenda as long as the Authority is concerned.
