In an official statement, the Ministry of Finance has announced the appointment of new leaders to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), a move intended to bolster the organization’s capabilities in tax mobilisation and administration.
The key appointments are Julie Essiam, Commissioner-General Ms. Essiam has been appointed as the Commissioner-General of the GRA taking over from Rev Ammishaddai Owusu Amoah. With her vast experience in the field of tax administration having been Commissioner, Support Services, she is expected to provide strong leadership to the Authority and drive its growth and efficiency.
Also, Edward Apenteng Gyamerah who has been acting as Commissioner, Domestic Tax Revenue Division has been given a substantive position.
Mr. Gyamerah, a seasoned tax expert, will be responsible for overseeing the Domestic Tax Revenue Division.
His expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring fair and effective tax compliance within Ghana as especially domestic tax.
Furthermore, Pearl Darko who until recently a Deputy Director General, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), is now Commissioner, Support Services Division, taking over from Julie Essiam.
The appointment of Ms. Darko as Commissioner of Support Services Division reflects the importance placed on streamlining and enhancing internal processes within the GRA.
Her wealth of experience in administrative roles will be invaluable in this regard.
Additionally, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo who until recently the Provost Marshall of the Ghana Armed Forces is now Commissioner, Customs Division of GRA.
Brigadier General Ayorrogo, will bring his strong background in security to bolster customs operations.
His appointment is expected to bolster efforts to combat smuggling and further improve customs operations.
These appointments communicated in statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry of Finance, have been made with the primary objective of strengthening the GRA and ensuring that revenue targets are met within an environment of professionalism, fairness, and exemplary client care.
The Ministry of Finance took the opportunity to express gratitude to the immediate past leadership of the GRA for their dedication and service to the nation.
The Ministry emphasizes that their commitment has played a significant role in the continuous growth of tax revenue in Ghana.
