DAYBREAK has gathered the United States (US) Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is allegedly on the heels of the beleaguered Personal Assistant (PA) to the Finance and Economic Planning Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
It is unclear the crime of Michael Asare Bediako, warranting he being wanted by the FBI, an American security agency that investigates crimes in which national law is broken or the country’s security is threatened.
Meanwhile, reliable information picked up by this paper indicate that Mr Asare Bediako, has after some corruption-related allegations in the media resigned as PA to the Minister.
A memo dated Thursday, October 28, 2021, signed by the Chief Director of the Finance Ministry, Patrick Nomo, copied to Mr Ofori-Atta, announced the news of Michael Asare Bediako’s resignation.
The memo titled ‘Reorganization of the Office of the Finance Minister’ was copied to the Minister of State, Deputy Ministers, Coordinating Directors and Director HCGAD.
Paragraph five of the memo stated “I wish to take this opportunity to communicate to staff that Mr Michael Asare Bediako has resigned from the Ministry after five (5) years of service. The Ministry thanks him for his services and wishes him the best for the future”.
But contrary to what has been put out there, information intercepted by DAYBREAK indicates that Michael Asare Bediako did not resign but was fired by Mr Ofori-Atta.
The dealings of the Minister’s PA according to sources came to the attention of President Akufo-Addo who subsequently ordered Mr Ofori-Atta to part ways with him.
Chief among accusations levelled against Asare Bediako is the allegation that he was using the Minister’s name to broker deals, including contracts on his blind side.
